Jefferson Parish was established by the Louisiana Legislature on February 11, 1825, and named in honor of Thomas Jefferson. With such a rich history of people and places, Jefferson Parish stretches from the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain to the Gulf of Mexico in Grand Isle.
